“Each evening, two restaurants battle it out side by side in a single elimination, blind dinner format. As our guest, you get to savor a six-course menu (three courses from each chef without knowing whose food you’re tasting) created around a “Mystery” North Carolina ingredient. The ingredient is revealed to the chefs at noon the day of their battle and it must be used in each of their three courses.”

Check out the website for the list of competitors. Upcoming dates in Greensboro are May 5, 6, 7, 13, 14 and more.

Coming up on the horizon:

Friday, May 9 & Saturday, May 10:

12th Annual Passalong Plant Sale
9AM to 3PM on May 9 & 9AM to 12noon on May 10
Guilford County Agricultural Center,
3309 Burlington Road, Greensboro, NC 27405
http://guilford.ces.ncsu.edu/spotlight/12th-annual-passalong-plant-sale/

Master gardeners will have perennials, herbs, veggies, ferns, shrubs, trees, and more at “prices that even the big gardening centers cannot match. Since most of the plants come from the gardens and greenhouses of the EMGVs themselves, the sale also offers the opportunity to have gardening questions answered by the people who know the plants best.”

They’ll also have information boots, presentations, tours of the Demonstration Gardens, plus hot dogs for sale!

In case you didn’t know, the Guilford Master Gardener Volunteers are amazing resources for homeowners. Call them up or go by and they’ll answer your gardening questions as best they can. Additionally, they also offer some great classes! You can click on the link above to find out more.

Saturday, May 10:

Grits & Blues
Greensboro Farmers Curb Market
501 Yanceyville St., Greensboro, NC [map]

And if you have an upcoming event, let us know (just comment below).

If you know of a place consolidating food or farm info, please let me know! Until then, I’ll provide periodic updates of the happenings in the Piedmont Triad.
